Right Before the Storm

I got swept away.

Our last night at the Maldives. A storm was setting in and the colors of the sky blew up in one million shades. We immediately headed to the beach to capture this wonderful moment. It’s on times like these that I feel most grateful. Grateful to be able to admire such a beautiful nature. Such a beautiful country. It’s needless to say that the Maldives swept me off my feet.

Normally I would use a little Photoshop here and there (don’t get worried guys, 99% of the time it’s just enhancing colors and brightening up the pictures), but this time I didn’t. I don’t know why, I just couldn’t. It felt unnatural to edit pictures that are already so beautiful to begin with. And I don’t mean this in some kind of narcissistic way (in one picture you can definitely notice that I fell asleep while sunning with my sunglasses on haha). But according to me the nature of the Maldives is already so surreal. The colors, the shapes, the light. A bliss like that can’t be touched, changed or enhanced.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Frederik for making this photoshoot possible. It has been a real pleasure seeing him evolve from a somewhat shy ‘Nikon-nerd’ to the amazing photographer he is now. He hates it when I use the word ‘amazing’, but I just can’t help it..You’re amazing, honey!!
