From Big Ben to Harrods; London is such a beautiful city. In this article I’m not only sharing my absolute favorite hotspots, but I’m also revealing why I was really there!
When I think about London, a few things come in mind; Big Ben, London Eye, Westminster Abbey.. So when I arrived, I immediately hit the town and started my cultural tour. I also went to the famous Piccadilly Circus which is a absolute must see. Every time I’m there, I instantly get that New York feeling. After some sight seeing, I took a break at Ladurée. Okay, not immediately something typical british, but I’m so in love with their raspberry pie <3 (and I also ordered a tea 😉 )
For this sightseeing day I went for a rather comfortable outfit. I’m wearing a Zara jeans, a Kenzo top, a Maison Martin Margiela jacket and my K. Jacques sandals.
London is not only the perfect place for some sightseeing, but it’s also a shopping paradise. With department stores like Harrods, Selfridges and Liberty London you always find the items you’re looking for. I also went to Victoria’s Secret, and I must say, this shop is the most beautiful and glamorous one I’ve ever seen. Totally different from the ones in New York! When you want to buy something typical British, I suggest some shoes from Church’s. Nothing says elegance and class like a shoe from Church’s.
When you’re looking for good food, London is the place to be. I must admit it’s not the cheapest city, but its charm makes up for its high prices. My first evening there, I went to a place called Burger and Lobster. The line was enormous, but it was worth the wait. The menu consists of three things: burger, lobster or a combination of the two (all served with french fries). It was delicious! When you’re looking for something edgy and cool, you must go to Burger & Liquor. Their slogan is ‘Arrive hungry, leave drunk’, so that says it all I think 😉 The most amazing restaurant I’ve been, was Galvin at Windows. This michelin-starred restaurant based on the 28th floor of the Hilton Hotel has the most incredible view ever. And the food is to die for!
As I mentioned in a previous article, I was not only in London for some sightseeing and shopping. I followed a one-week summer course at the London College of Fashion (UAL). The course ‘Luxury Brand Management and Product Design’ was superb. I got to learn so much in just a few days. And now I’m more sure than ever that I would like to get a job in the luxury brand industry. The summer course consisted of some classes and a project. For the project, we had to develop a new product for a luxury brand and market it. My team chose to make an Hermès helmet (called ‘Magnifique’) and I must say I’m so proud of our result.
Let me know what you guys think about it!
